THREE OF MY FAVORITE LECTURES!!!!

 Thursday, 2/1 "Antigone" Assignment #2:

Title: Antigone “character characteristics and conflicts”

I Loved reading this short story Antigone. It was one of my favorites. After doing this assignment I had to learn some of the adjectives of Creon, Ismene and antigone so I had a better understanding of how the characters were overall and what their character traits were. I had learned how Croen was selfish and two-faced. I also learned how Antigone was brave and bold and believed in doing the right thing. And I also learned how Ismene was very shy and did not know how to defend herself but she did try to be there for her sister.

I also read about the conflicts of the story which I had found so interesting, one of them being Antigone and Creon fighting over burying Polynice's body. And the other conflict being Haemon and Creon fighting over releasing antigone. After writing all these facts that I was able to present to the class when I was questioning about it, this assignment helped me overall learn what the conflicts were and the characteristics of some of the main characters. This assignment helped me gain knowledge on the conflicts and the characteristics of the characters and what is happening in the story overall.

DUE: Tuesday, 2/6 - Antigone Part 2 - Conflicts & Absolutism

Title: “ Antigone” Themes and gender inequality

After doing the assignment for the fishbowl I had learned about how two different themes are active in this story. One of the themes being sister rivalry when Ismene refused to help her sister burying their brother's dead body due to her being scared of Creon. Due to Ismene obeying Creon and not listening to Antigone , it causes a fight between them. Another theme being the downfall of a tragic hero is accurate in this story due to Creon's leadership and his actions. Creon was very stubborn and selfish and only really cared about him and this ended up affecting his family. I also learned how gender inequality was in the story because Antigone or her sister could not rule because they were women.

What I had gained from this Fishbowl was how these themes played a big role in this story and why these themes were important to the story. Using different themes has helped me understand the story even more. I had also learned how gender inequality exists in this story. Learning how gender inequality was in this story helped me understand how the women were treated and how their voice did not matter. I feel like this fishbowl helped me understand the themes overall and I also learned how gender inequality was in this story.

Title : The Ending of Antigone

The end of Antigone resulted in Antigone killing herself, Haemon attempting to kill Creon but failing and ends up killing himself and Creon's wife taking her own life after learning about her son Haemon's death. And in the end Creon took responsibility for all he had caused. I had also learned of Tierisies who was Creon's blind prophet and he would try to guide creon. At this point Creon is the tragic hero in the story due to him becoming king and his action being absurd caused lives.  What I took from this was that Creon was the tragic hero of this story and I had also learned about the ending.
