REFLECTION

Overall from this semester I have learned a lot of things from my class which is English 102 Literature For The Soul. Overall I had a really amazing experience by myself and with my peers I feel like this class helped me grow as a person and to look at things more openly. Not only my skills in writing and thinking advanced but so did my confidence in sharing my personal ideas and opinions because class felt like a safe space to express myself. I feel like my thinking skills can sharpen and it can help me outside of the classroom especially with expressing my own ideas and even how to make my ideas more advanced. I also feel more comfortable to share these ideas with my peers.       I feel like I grew as a thinker because now I question my own ideas to make them better. After listening to my peers' opinions participating in fish bowls asking my peers for their opinions on certain assignments I feel like my mind expanded and I grew as a thinke...

SSU THEME ANALYSIS ( Fear vs Violence)

The theme of fear relates to “ Interpreter of Maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri and “ Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway.  In "Hills Like White Elephants" fear is in the subtext within the characters' conversation and act. The short story firstly circulates around a discussion among a woman and a man  at a train station in Spain. "Fear" might not be mentioned in the story, its existence is perceived through the tensity and unease pervading the exchange. In "Interpreter of Maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri's fear is shown as a theme that repeats, is complicated, and intertwines within the lives of her characters, giving their identities, connections , and awareness form. One of the main concepts of fear in Mrs. Kapasi's life is the fear of close relationships and exposure. In the story "Interpreter of Maladies," Mrs. Kapasi continues  a discreet manner, disguising her inner thoughts and feelings from anyone who she gets surrounded w...

THREE OF MY FAVORITE LECTURES!!!!

Thursday, 2/1 "Antigone" Assignment #2: Title: Antigone “character characteristics and conflicts” I Loved reading this short story Antigone. It was one of my favorites. After doing this assignment I had to learn some of the adjectives of Creon, Ismene and antigone so I had a better understanding of how the characters were overall and what their character traits were. I had learned how Croen was selfish and two-faced. I also learned how Antigone was brave and bold and believed in doing the right thing. And I also learned how Ismene was very shy and did not know how to defend herself but she did try to be there for her sister.  I also read about the conflicts of the story which I had found so interesting, one of them being Antigone and Creon fighting over burying Polynice's body. And the other conflict being Haemon and Creon fighting over releasing antigone. After writing all these facts that I was able to present to the class when I was questioning about it, this assig...
